Updated Chess Pieces & Sounds

The next version will have a new move and capture sound (similiar to CPT 3.3 as requested by many users). The chess pieces have been updated too. A completely new set of chess pieces is planned too and you can have an impact on it by giving us your feedback!

Do you like this updated pieces better than the previous one? Do you still want to have back the original ones from CPT 3.3?

I understand that the previous ones were a little bit too blurry, but the old CPT 3.3 images were plain ugly IMO.. Anyway, it is saying something that several useres wanted to have back the old ones...

Beside this updated piece images we plan to create another set of pieces. Any chess piece images you like especially?

This website has a nice selection of chess fonts, which can be used as inspiration:

    Stefan,

Those are better, but I still like the original CPT version, which are sleeker. On the link you provided, several were fine, but I'd be partial to the ones used in the Informator (CA Chess, I think it was). Best regards.

The new chess pieces are better than previus one.
About the capture sound, I would like ask you if is possible add those of Fritz, which are the better...IMO

I would like to have a way to choose the look of the pieces too, not only the board colors.

My vote goes to the CPT 3.3 version. With the others you feel as though you must explore how you can change the pieces to something better.

Regarding the sounds I too think the Fritz announcements are good. It sounds like Jacob Aagaard to me.

I like the new pieces, too, but I'd also like some basic UCSF and Merida pieces, just with antialiasing/smoothing so that they don't look so shabby. To echo everyone else: look at Fritz/ChessBase's default fonts -- they just look nice, although they're nothing exotic.

    Looking forward to the improvements!

There is no question that CPT 3.3 pieces are the best by far.

I like the CPT 3.3 best so far, but the new one is better than the current one. I agree with Bernstein to look at Fritz/ChessBase defaults: a simple functional one without fancy color gradients and other eye candy would be my vote.

I like the CPT 3.3 a lot. The only issue I have with that one is that the edges look too jagged.

    Olá Stefan!

I think that the Merida Font is the better, probably because I have used this Font since I word with computational Chess.

Sorry but I do not like the CPT 3.3 Font. It is some kind of Merida Font but without the details.

Also, Frit's or Chess Tempo's sound is better ones than the actual CPT sounds.

I actually would be fine with the proposed new design as long as it didn't have the fuzzy gray gradient color that is in the White pieces. That's what really bothers me about the current set and the proposed new one, but the Black pieces actually look nice.

I initially hated the version 4 pieces, but after working with them for a couple of months they have grown on me. I prefer either of the newer options presented to the version 3.3 pieces, which just look too jagged.

I do like the Merida pieces the best and use them whenever available.
