You don’t have to wait till the CPT iPad App has been finished. In the meantime you can already run CPT on your iPad, Android tablet or Kindle Fire today if you have a Wi-Fi connection to your PC.
The other day Bryan from ChessCube made me aware of a pretty simple way to stream the desktop of your PC on almost any device. Sometime ago some other user made me already aware of such an approach, but this time I gave it a try and what can I say? It works like a charm!
You might think that a streamed desktop on your desktop is slow and the navigation cumbersome as it was developed for the use of a mouse?
Think again! Actually, it will be hard to improve the experience of this approach with a CPT iPad App (besides scenarios where you don’t have access to your PC of course). The training module works perfectly – even with sounds!
So, how does it work?
First you need the SplashTop app (available for iPad, Android and kindle fire):
http://www.splashtop.com/remote
It costs just $4.99. Your money is spent well as you can use this app for many other scenarios as well (it is the top 25 best-selling iPad App for some reasons!). Then download the streaming client for free.
Run CPT on your computer and connect with SplashTop – enjoy!
One important tip: to save space on your screen I recommend pinning the navigation to the left side. It will collapse to the left side when you move your mouse away and expand if you move over it again. Just click on the small “pin” symbol of the window. The following screenshot shows you where you have to click.
In my personal case this approach covers 90% of my use cases as I use my iPad mostly at home in the garden, living room etc., but of course some people are looking for a solution which can be used even without your computer running. On the other hand the benefit of this approach is that the database is in sync with your desktop as you are working on the same one.
This doesn’t stop me of releasing an iPad App, but in the meantime this approach might be quite useful for some users.

Thanks for the information. I downloaded it and it works a treat. Running out of excuses for not getting good at this game now!

I use this solution for many applications. I do not advise using the web remote connection solution offering Splashtop due to insufficient safety guarantees. On local network is safe.
Just wondering whether there are any plans for releasing an ipad app for CPT4 and if so what functionality it may have? From a personal point of view I would be very happy just with a version that allowed you to train on your repertoire, with or without update of scores. However I am sure the programming is not as simple!

Please consider supporting Dropbox to help the ipad app being in sync with the desktop database :-)
I would like to echo Dave's comment. Is there any plan to release a CPT4 version for iPad? That would be great! Thanks.
Yes!
